When people brought their children to Jesus, the disciples shoed them away, but Jesus said, "Permit the children to come to me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." At Living Hope we embrace and welcome children, believing that they are just as important as the adults. Our goal is to work with you to help your children learn and grow spiritually. We strive to provide a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for your youth so you can plug in to God during the adult worship service. In addition we offer two camps each year for teenagers and have a thriving young adult ministry called Spire.
We recognize that caring for an infant is hard work so we want to do whatever we can to support and enable mothers to participate in the Sunday service in those early months of their child's life. To accomodate mothers with infants we offer seating in the back of the auditorium so they can spread out with their child and have easy access to the back door and nearby bathrooms. In addition our prayer room is equiped with a TV hookup so nursing mothers can remotely participate in the service.
Children 1 to 3 years old play in our brightly painted and kid friendly toddlers' room, located on the second floor of the church. Here we provide a wide variety of age appropriate toys and tasty snacks. This is where children first begin developing their social skills. In case a child is ready for a nap, we have a pack 'n play available to set up in an adjoining room. A private bathroom is very close, equipped with a changing table.
At this wonderful age, our children learn Bible stories, make crafts, enjoy a snack, and enjoy ample opportunity to socialize with their peers. Located on the second floor of Living Hope (at the end of the hallway), our 4-6 year olds are well-taken care of so that they can develop their own relationship with God and his Scriptures.
Children in this group learn key Bible stories, indispensible Christian virtues, foundational doctrines, and basic Christian disciplines. In addition they usually make a fun craft, enjoy a scrumptious snack, sing together, and pray aloud. Our goal with the 7-12 year olds is to prepare them so that when they join the adult meeting they can follow along without difficulty. Ultimately our heart's desire is that these kids would make a personal decision to follow Jesus that would carry them through the rest of their lives.
Our teens join the adults in the main meeting for Sunday worship. Each year Living Hope coordinates a high-energy teen camp for a week in the summer and four days in the winter (between Christmas and New Year's). At these camps we challenge the teens to make their own decision to love God, follow Christ, and share the message with others. Teen camp is full of fun activities and it provides them with an opportunity to meet others their age who take their faith seriously.
Young adults attend the regular service with teens as well, though many of them volunteer in various capacities from running cameras to helping out with the kids. In addition we get together for an awesome retreat every year in January called Revive. This is a time for young adults to worship and discuss real life issues.
