Path of Life

I prefer MapQuest over my GPS because I like getting all the directions upfront before starting the journey. The lady on my GPS tells me only my next move; howbeit, most often she is kind enough to repeat herself. The Scriptures provide the general information we need to live for God and assure us that through the spirit the specific information necessary will be provided as needed. Psalm 16:11 says Yahweh will make known to us the path of life, and the Bible often emphasizes what will happen in the end – the Kingdom of God. However, the details about our path in life are not told to us upfront.

Yahweh’s dealings with us are more like the GPS and not MapQuest. Abraham was given very specific directions when he was called and promised that in the end, he would receive what we now know to be the Kingdom of God. Yet, the father of faith was not provided with a detailed map with all the activities of his life. Day by day, Yahweh worked with him leading him in the path of his life.

When Jesus called Peter and Andrew, he said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Thus, their walk with the Lord began without details of how they would become fishers of men. Little did they know all that would happen. Each day, Jesus led them, and after his ascension, through the spirit, he continued to do so one day at a time. During the last supper, Jesus told them about the holy spirit and how it would work to provide what was needed for them on a daily basis. Jesus promised, “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” (John 14:18).

Every day we are to seek first the Kingdom and doing what is right without worry about tomorrow. We live life one day at a time with trust in our God.

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.    Matthew 6:33-34

The path of life is made known one day at a time so that we may enjoy our love relationship with our heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus. “You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16:11

God bless,

Vince
